Front Country

Front Country is a community-based program that works in collaboration with the United States Forest Service to provide job training, job readiness, and development services to young men and women residing in the 34th Congressional District. The goal of the program is to provide participants with discipline, life skills and expertise required to obtain employment in the fields of fire fighting and environmental care. Participants of the Front Country program will complete an intense step-by-step training program that includes:

  • Intake and Assessment

  • Boot Camp

  • Job Readiness Workshops

  • Life Skills Training

  • Fire Academy*

  • Job Placement

Our Recruitment Officers will work with participants on a one-on-one basis to assist with any barriers to employment.

*Participants who are not interested in careers in firefighting or environmental care can choose to work with Aztecs Rising staff to obtain further training or assistance in finding employment in other fields of their choice.

All Front Country participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Age 18 years or older

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to pass a physical endurance test

  • Current residence in the 34th Congressional District

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

Program participants must successfully complete each component of the program before moving to the next. Only participants that have completed all program components will be sent to Fire Academy with the United States Forest Service.
